Giving something back
At Orkney Shooting Holidays we feel that it is also important to give back to the environment and not just take. We have implemented a duck breeding program in 2014 which aims at helping increase the numbers of ducks both visiting and residing in Orkney. We released hundreds of Mallard accross a number of different sites in Orkney. Alongside this we placed nests tubes/boxes on multiple sites which have been proven to aid breeding success. We have also conducted significant pest control (Crows/Rats etc) and hope that the duckling survial rate will be enhanced.
In addition to this we are releasing bought in ducks. We feel that it is important not to forget that without giving back to the island and managing our bags appropriately then we will loose the excellent sport that it currently provides.
